Welsh-born Burton, who died in 1984, received the honor of his career as part of the 50th Anniversary of the ancient Egyptian drama film “Cleopatra”, in which he and co-star Taylor begins floors and tumultuous love affair.
The couple adopted daughter, Maria Burton, accepted the honor of the iconic mosaic and brass star along “Hollywood” in the historic center of the film industry in the United States.
Burton was nominated for “Oscar” seven times between 1953 and 1978, but never won the award. And fellow Welsh actor Michael Sheen talks recalled the opening and awe he felt when Burton and Taylor, one of the most famous couples in Hollywood, visited the village where he grew Sheen.
Burton and Taylor married for the first time in 1964 and divorced in 1974. They remarried the following year, but the marriage lasted only nine months.
Burton, who was born Richard Jenkins, has been married five times and died in 1984 of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 58. Taylor, who married eight times, died in 2011 at age 79.
