Armani sent flowers Dean and Dan Caten today. It was right. It was a great month for the Twins: turning 50 on December 19; orchestration reunion 150 immediate family members on Christmas Day in Toronto; and now a big production to celebrate 20 years of his label Dsquared². But it has always been the story of their life, everything becomes more and more: the audience, sales, and inevitably, the number of people who are waiting for them to fall on their faces. That will not happen, because, as Dan said before today’s show, “We are born fighters. If it’s easy, it’s not worth the fight.”
The show was, as he said, “Almost hits.” Link one of his most famous clients, Dean interjected with “The Immaculate Collection.” (Identical twins do not have any problems with the fight, because they are related to each other for life.) Malgosia Bela criminal case in a tiny leather jacket and dirty jeans, then a nude male torso in a fur hunter hat and jeans slung so low they bounce off his pelvic bone. Male objectification was vintage Dsquared².
So it was something that was. “Beautiful park and some great looking jeans” was the quintessential definition of Dan with his label look, and here in the great white jacket trimmed in lavish drift wolf, with worn jeans in support of a second skin. You could call the form “Canadianism”, because Catens fiercely patriotic. (Their star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, on King Street in Toronto sits next to Celine Dion.)
But Canadiana can only carry the show for so long. It seemed inevitable prolixities anniversary Presentation: too many plaid shirts knotted waist model, over jeans. Thus, the recent views, sharply with the tuxedos, gussied with embroidery arrived as an important reminder about the other side of the work Catens. And the evening suits they wore when they came out in the end were even better. They were accompanied by Mary J. Blige, who sang U2 “One”, who offered himself as a suitable hymn for symbiotic existence of identical twins.
